Workshops

Starlight’s Summer Workshops have been very successful and booked out the last three years. In 2004 the theme was Grease, in 2005 it was Fame, in 2006 Saturday Night Fever, and last year it was Mamma Mia. Students learn scenes, songs and dances from the show over the course of the five days and on the Friday evening stage a mini show of what they learned during the week. It is like a special challenge for them to stage the show in just five days. Each day is broken up into rehearsals and games. Anyone welcome to attend whether they have experience onstage or none.

Background Information

Starlight Stage Productions also write workshops for theatre groups, schools, after school groups and clubs. These workshops programs last between ten and fifteen sessions depending on what is required by the group. Starlight can custom design and write workshop programs to suit all needs. They aim to introduce the participants to the performing arts by working towards a song, dance and drama show which would be staged the final week of the workshop. They are written especially to incorporate every one of the group into the show no matter what ages they are.

Groups that have completed these workshops to date include Loughboy Area Resource Centre, Ballycallan Drama Group, Bunscoil MacAuley Rice Callan, Millennium Court After Schools Group, Mullinahone National School, Clogh Family Resource Centre and numerous Starlight Stage School classes as well as our Summer Workshops.

So far the workshops have included Grease***, Wizard Of Oz*** , Fame***, Beauty and The Beast***, Saturday Night Fever***, American School Musical*** , Aladdin***

*** Please note that these shows are not the full scale musical versions of these shows and are often just ideas based on the theme of a certain musical or film of the same name.
