Little Shop Of Horrors

The hilarious comedy Little Shop of Horrors was Starlight’s 1999 show at the Watergate Theatre. The show was directed by Paddy Melia, Choreographed by Michele Wise, Musical Director was Ollie Hennessy and Producer was Jason Paul Ryan. The show ran for four performances including a matinee performance on St.Patricks Day which was followed by the entire cast taken part in and winning the Kilkenny St Patricks Day Parade.

The show written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman who wrote Disney’s Aladdin and Disney’s Little Mermaid contains great songs including Feed Me, Suddenly Seymour, Little Shop of Horrors, Dentist and Somewhere That’s Green. It tells the story of botanist Seymour Krellborn and the successes and drawbacks he has when he grows a plant into a huge man eating monster. Gary Kavanagh and Emma Shore played the leading roles of Seymour and Audrey brilliantly. The plant Audrey 2 was voiced by Jessie Wise from offstage whilst John Comerford had the difficult task as puppeteer of the huge plant - from inside of it.
