| Jason Paul Ryan is a Kilkenny born performer who gained his first performance experiences in the CBS School Choir under the direction of Seamus Brennan. As he grew older Jason got involved in a number of local based theatre groups such as Kilkenny Musical Society, Kilkenny Pantomime Society, KYMP and Watergate Productions. After finishing school Jason was offered a job working as Lead Vocalist on an entertainments show team in Majorca, his first overseas position. Jason worked two summer seasons in Majorca and also worked in Cyprus and Tenerife, the latter where he enjoyed huge success as a solo artist and also producing and starring in The Musicals Spectacular. He recorded his first two albums Jason Paul Ryan and The Musicals Album whilst based here and he was voted Best Overall Entertainer at the Tenerife Showcase in 2000. | ![]() Jason Paul Ryan |
When he moved to the UK he was offered a very exciting contract starring on the WKD Road Show and the Smirnoff Star Search which were both touring promotional events where Jason was the special guest artist performing to thousands of people right across the UK during 2002 and 2003. Whilst based in Liverpool Jason appeared on both Hollyoaks and Brookside for Channel 4 TV. He also entered the first series of RTEs Youre A Star and reached the television voting stages as a Kilkenny finalist, and returned to enter the competition for the second series reaching the final forty through the Waterford heats the same heats as eventual winner Chris Doran attended. Becoming good friends during this time Chris invited Jason to perform with him as a support act after the Eurovision. As a result of his Youre A Star appearances Jason was offered the leading role in Decades The Musical for the shows Irish and UK tours in 2003.
On his return to Ireland to live in 2004 Jason achieved another life long dream when he opened a stage school for children at various locations around county Kilkenny. Starlight Stage Productions was formed as a show producing group to involve students from the stage school alongside talented local adults. Jason has been involved in many shows with Starlight over the years including Grease (Danny, Producer), Little Shop Of Horrors (Orin, Producer), 70s Night Fever (Tony, Producer), Wizard Of Oz (Scarecrow, Director, Producer), Annie Jr (Director, Producer), Joseph (Joseph, Choreographer, Producer), Disneys Aladdin Jr (Director, Choreographer, Producer), Starlight Stars (Director, Choreographer, Producer), The Musicals Spectacular (Various Roles, Producer), “America - Stars and Songs” and many more. Jason directed and starred in the Irish Theatre Premiere of the Queen musical “We Will Rock You” in April 2007 and the show was so successful it returned to the Watergate Theatre in October of the same year for a charity fundraising run. Jason also directs, writes and choreographs for other groups and schools. In February 2008 Starlight staged “Disneys High School Musical” which he directed, produced and choreographed also.
Jason has recently put together “Puppy Love” which is the Donny Osmond tribute show. The show tours Ireland and the UK during 2008. Jason will be playing the role of Donny in this show.
